It is the goal of lillonet.org to provide inexpensive internet access to the people of Lillooet and the surrounding areas. We have a background in the Internet Society was born out of a desire to bring cheaper Internet public access, E-mail services and private dial-ups to the Lillooet community. During the last few years, the system has grown in terms of software, hardware, and the member needs. We established four stations in the Lillooet Public Library for public access that is accessible Monday to Friday. Volunteers, who have dedicated much of their time to keep us going, run our system completely.
Lately our Internet Access services were upgraded to offer 56k downloads to be compatible modems. The addition of the latest in INTEL hardware and management systems has brought us up with the most current technology. We have also introduced another 23 dial in lines to cope with our ever-increasing membership. Pinc Systems of Vancouver is responsible for the hardware management of the system.
